dedeaux fields city lights are wearing us down, discount gods are an easy pawn. every night we’re counting shooting stars, every day we’re gonna drift apart. but we sleep on a sunbeam and it feels just like a dream. and i know that i will see you down the road. handshake people and discarded songs, we’re gonna find our way when the moon is down. every night we’re counting shooting stars, every day we’re gonna drift apart.
2.
malta smile 55 neon signs are fading, malta skies are waiting for me. a knock on the door broke all my reveries, but it is what it is.they left me high and dry, but down the line i’ll be just fine, won’t run with the mill, the pawn shops will be there still. it is what it is. there’s some bad news going around, thank god that i left town. come morning we’ll roll high, i can see your smile. for what it’s worth baby, it might as well just be a sign. a stitch in time will save nine, we’ll leave it all behind.
3.
jaguar jackson homespun moonshine whiskey and a little sunshine wine, all that gas-food-lodging wore you down, now the catcher in the rye is gone. they call you jaguar jackson and you live on sun-bleached streets, you say the herd wins battles but free men win wars, all the free men they are winning the war. honey don’t chase the gun, you’re falling with the rising sun, things are gonna come around down on highway 1. heaven’s hard to come by in this lazy wayward town, i hear the angels crying, you missed another chance, i guess you need another saint.
4.
Amper & Sand 03:11
amper & sand johnny, who could have imagined that i would ever sell my soul for whiskey, karma, and magick, tangled in the serpent’s coil. tell them i’ll wait by the screen door, giving a hail to the thief, i’ll follow wherever the heart leads, reading the leaves in my tea. all in all life’s surreal, i wail in the shade and i’m hoping for better days. all in all i know you could save me, as i walk down the streets long enough not to be seen. i’m feeling the bends, ampersand, i’m feeling the bends. johnny, quit playing those sad songs, i know you wanna rattle and roll. whiskey, karma, and magick, and spare parts for broken hearts.
5.
Carny King 03:24
carny king hello anarchy, goodbye love, we had a good run for a while. life's a carnival, free rides and all, give me a reason not to cry. there's been a tug of war, they're kicking down the doors, but too little too late, hail to the bait. devil's radio and spindrift lies, but down the line i'm doing fine. it's a crying shame, two of hearts, give me a reason and i'll try. you say you miss your wandering days, god knows i'm not to blame. after all a man must be blind to go to sea one more time.
6.
payday flowers when the truck pulled up i ran out of luck, saw the payday flowers next to you. and you said to me that she's your holy see, that our train has long ago derailed. and her name was adelaine. and my nerves wore thin 'cause i saw it in my dreams, a wild card wedding and a gun. but it seems to me that she's your hallmark queen, the devil finds work for idle hands.
7.
formica hearts time, it will stop before you’ll find the clock. say goodbye, let the sleeping dogs lie. rest your weary bones, i can’t go it alone, we’ll find our feet if we’re starting to draw the line. so pack all of your bags, baby let’s turn our backs, all-around this town has gotten us down. take me to bunker hill, lay me down just for the thrill. soon enough we’ll be apart like two lonely formica hearts. you know that we are fools trying to play it cool, going for broke ‘cause they’re boarding up this town. let’s go back, back to the hill, a view and then a kill, god knows if i’ll ever gonna see you again.

Boudoir Poet 03:14
boudoir poet over at jim's den, there's mutiny on their hands, but all the flashlights find poems in the sand. don't fear those draft days, don't run away, down the line sometime you'll pay on the nail. Just need to know where you're bound, just wanna know what gets you down, just need to know all about you right now. you keep on writing things so you won't have time to think, i never said that it was easy coming down. you pick the change up all night and day, these are the tracks that lead me back to you.
9.
one and a half stars we drove to nevada, three sheets to the wind, gas-food-lodging all in. but vegas dollars they won't get us far, we sure need a bright lucky star. i thought we were happy with cheap wine and all, but you rolled your eyes and you smiled. a star and a half, it won't raise the bar, you said, then you just walked away. let me down, down easy, take me back as a friend. let me down, down easy, i need to see you again. don't know where i'm heading but i can't stand still, not sure what city i'm in. a bouquet of strangers with cheap wine and all, i roll my eyes and i cry. it took 300 dollars to just walk away, right now i'm half way alone. i need something that won't fade away, some place that i can call home.
10.
Magpie 03:11
magpie nevermind, i won't cry, i simply came to say goodbye. the wheels will turn when the soil gets dry, i held you 'till you turned blue. her magpie chatter was kicking you to the grounds, all your heroes, they have long been gone. i wanna see you one more time. nevermind, i won't fight, down the line i'll be just fine. the wheels will turn when the soil gets dry, a signet ring is all you left behind.

Life's a Gas 01:58

about

Sugarplum Fairies is the moniker of Vienna native Silvia Ryder, supplemented by an array of rotating guest musicians. The sound of SPF bridges the transatlantic gap with an amalgamation of European pop sensibilities and waltzing Americana folk rock, all tied together by Ryder’s evocative vocals.

On ‘Payday Flowers’, Sugarplum Fairies veers from sleepy shoegaze to eclectic Vaudeville, featuring Lee Hazlewood reminiscent horn arrangements alongside languid soundscapes.

‘Payday Flowers’ features Ken Coomer (Wilco) on drums, Jebin Bruni (Public Image Ltd, Fiona Apple) on keyboards, Jeff McElroy (Howlin’ Rain) on bass, and Danny T. Levin (Iggy Pop, Rilo Kiley) on horns.
The album was produced and mixed by Marlon Rabenreither (Gold Star), and mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk (Ariel Pink, The Dandy Warhols).
